COVID-19 Plan of Management

Public Act Theatre is registered with both the NSW and QLD governments as a COVID Safe Business.

Please read of for important information regarding the management plan in place, caring for our participants, facilitators, staff, crew and volunteers, by minimising opportunities for exposure to coronavirus.  Making theatre within the ‘Border Bubble’ of Northern Rivers, this plan was developed in conjunction with both the NSW and QLD health governing guidelines.

Space and Traffic Flow

Public Act support and hire community venues for workshops, classes and events.  As part of your welcome email to a workshop or class, you will receive any specific instructions pertaining to that venue is traffic flow is a relevant consideration (for example if the venue request our entry via a specific door within a larger facility / which bathrooms have been allocated to our group etc.).  Floor markings will be placed to help guide you where necessary.

Regarding number capacities, we work in accordance with the relevant governing health authorities, with a COVID-19 Safe Plan in place specific to our industry.  As such, all participants must pre-book.

We ask that you arrive anywhere from 0 – 15 minutes early for you class to allow for staggered entry; and request that you disperse immediately upon completion of each session.

During Workshops

Theatre is a highly physical practice where instruction can often require coming into close contact with the participants to perform or do an activity.  Facilitators will plan activities to minimise contact wherever possible, but please make sure you wash your hands regularly and avoid unnecessary contact.

As per our industry plan specifications - Dance and Performing Arts [DPPA], the nature of physical theatre may require close contact during the session and we request that you keep this to the ‘Field of Play’, meaning that 1.5 metre physical distancing is still maintained outside of the workshop session time - during food breaks etc.

Exclusion

In accordance with governing health regulations, we ask that you stay at home if you:

-       have COVID-19 symptoms or feel unwell,

-       have been in close contact with a known case of COVID-19,

-       have travelled overseas in the previous 14 days,

-       have been to a declared COVID-19 hotspot in the previous 14 days – the list of declared COVID19 hotspots can be accessed here.

Hygiene and Cleaning

We ask that you take responsibility for upholding all effective hygiene practices recommended, including effective hand hygiene, respiratory etiquette, minimising unnecessary contact with others and minimising the sharing of equipment.  You can do this by bringing your own water bottle, pen and notepads to each session.

Posters are placed at all workshop venues and facilitators and administration are trained and happy to talk you through any updates or clarifications if needed.

All workshop spaces will have hand sanitizer, soap and paper towels for your convenience.

Staff from the workshop prior will have sanitized the space, including any chairs and equipment, so that you enter a clean space.

Record Keeping

In accordance with governing health requirements, we keep contact and attendance records for tracing purposes.  All records are kept securely and destroyed after the allocated timeframe as per governing recommendations.

The health and safety of anyone in our care has always been of the highest priority.  We continue this in light of COVID-19 through physical distancing measures, increased hygiene and cleaning, contact tracing and monitoring the health of our participants, facilitators, crew, volunteers and stakeholders
